Our products are easy to care for – in the truest sense of the word: they don't need any. Their durability won't suffer if you simply don't bother with them at all. They last a lifetime – and can be passed down without a problem.
If you still want to do something good for your product, you can simply rub it with a little oil – this will beautifully bring out the natural grain again. For heavier soiling, lightly sand it briefly beforehand.
The smooth surface is easy to clean and disinfect – ideal for professional therapy use. If necessary, simply wipe it damp or disinfect it – then let it dry briefly, and you're done.

How do the five types of wood differ?
The difference is not in function or hardness – all five wood types are equally durable and feel equally effective when rolling. The difference is a matter of personal preference in four areas:
Tactile Feel & Warmth
Alder feels particularly warm and soft in the hands – almost velvety. Beech, ash, oak, and walnut, in comparison, feel somewhat smoother and cooler, which many find particularly pleasant.
Weight
Alder is the lightest of the five hardwoods. The other four – beech, ash, oak, and walnut – are close in weight.
Scent
Each type of wood has its own natural scent. Since all our products are treated with linseed oil, this warm, nutty linseed oil scent always resonates when first used – a beautiful sign of natural processing.
Appearance & Grain
Beech is usually very even and homogeneous in appearance – simple and classic. Alder, ash, oak, and walnut, on the other hand, can have beautiful, individual grains: each piece is unique. Walnut impresses with deep, dark tones, while oak and ash feature striking structures. This is purely a matter of taste.
Durability
In terms of durability, all five types of wood make no compromises – they are built to last forever.
Isn't the wood much too hard?
Yes, wood doesn't yield – that's true. But ultimately, hard foam fascia rollers from other manufacturers barely do either. The crucial difference: with these products, you don't lie on them with your entire body weight; instead, you regulate the pressure yourself. This way, you have full control – and that's precisely what makes it pleasant and effective.
What is the difference between the double ball and the double ball XL?
Both double lacrosse balls work on the same principle: The notch in the middle protects the spine, while the two balls on the left and right apply targeted pressure to the muscles. The difference lies in the size – and thus in how the pressure is distributed.
Double Lacrosse Ball (7 cm): A smaller diameter means more pressure on a smaller point – ideal for targeted, intensive work on individual tension, trigger points, and smaller muscle groups such as the neck, forearms, or Achilles tendon.
Double Lacrosse Ball XL (10 cm): The larger diameter distributes the pressure over a larger area – this makes the application feel gentler, but still reaches deep into the muscles. Particularly well suited for large areas such as the back, thighs, and calves, or if you have more sensitive areas where too much pinpoint pressure would be uncomfortable.
In short: The regular double lacrosse ball is the specialist for targeted work, the XL is the all-rounder for comprehensive relaxation. If you are unsure, the XL is usually the right choice – it is the more beginner-friendly option.
How often and for how long should I roll?
The beauty of the rollholz: It adapts to your daily life – you don't have to follow a strict program. As a guideline:
You can stretch daily; 5–10 minutes are completely sufficient.
We recommend rolling out – i.e., the classic back-and-forth rolling over a muscle group – about twice a week with around 3 exercises each time.
You perform melting – deliberately staying on one point until the tension subsides – as needed, e.g., if you notice a particularly tense spot. This takes about 1.5 to 4 minutes per spot.
All techniques, exercises, and what you should pay attention to are, by the way, explained in detail in the free e-book you receive after purchase.
What's included in the e-book and when will I receive it?
The e-book was developed in collaboration with sports scientists and therapists and guides you step-by-step through your fascia training. It contains everything you need: from the basics (what are fascia anyway?) to the two techniques of rolling out and melting, and an extensive collection of exercises with photos and precise instructions for almost every muscle group – for all rollholz products. There's also a section on contraindications, i.e., when you should take a break or consult a doctor.
You will receive it automatically – just check the very bottom of your order confirmation email after purchase.
