Functional balance training rethought from the ground up
Balance boards and balance wedges are suitable for both targeted training and everyday use. Whether it's balance training, coordination, or core stability – with rollholz products, you playfully train what is often neglected in everyday life. The Balance Board also supports you in your home office, whether sitting or standing, and can even be used as a piece of seating furniture when assembled. If you want to start directly with more accessories, you can find the right combination in the Small Set or Large Set.
One board, many difficulty levels
Depending on the combination, the balance feeling on the board changes significantly – and not every variant is automatically an easy start. The following balance board exercises show you how you can progressively challenge yourself step by step.
The mini roller under the board is the most accessible option: the board rolls controllably back and forth, stays close to the ground, and the risk of falling is low. Well suited for beginners, also for older or less confident individuals.
With the rollholz Pro, the movement becomes more dynamic and intense – a fluid, almost surf-like riding sensation that demands body tension and reactivity.
Two balls under the board create a single-axis movement – ideal for specifically training ankle stability without the board tipping in all directions.
A single ball in the middle is the most challenging option: the ball sits firmly in the recess, but the board above it can move freely in all directions. Harmless, but significantly harder to control than the other combinations.
- Mini roller: accessible entry, close to the ground, low risk of falling.
- rollholz Pro: dynamic, free balancing, turns and tricks.
- Two balls: single-axis, targeted ankle training.
- One ball: challenging, movement in all directions.
Why a wooden roller reacts differently
A wooden roller feels more direct and responsive than a softer roller made of cork or foam. The smoother surface creates less resistance when you turn the board or make small changes in direction.
This not only makes the training more lively but also better suited for advanced movements, turns, and tricks. At the same time, it remains functional: feet, legs, core, and body control are constantly engaged, even if the movement looks light and playful.
Balance wedges: deliberately introducing instability
The Balance Wedges complement the balance range with an additional training level. Laid flat, they serve as calf stretchers and heel lifts, for example during squats. If you attach the included strips with velcro under the wedges, the surface becomes unstable – perfect for specifically training ankle stability, single-legged or double-legged, with or without additional load.
This makes the balance wedges a versatile complementary player to the balance board: sometimes as a stretching tool, sometimes as independent instability training.
